“My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of My goodness? For you, I descended from Heaven to earth; for you, I allowed Myself to be nailed to the Cross; for you, I let My Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain.”
(Diary, entry 1485)
Merciful Lord, sometimes I look at myself and at the world and the extent of sin can seem overwhelming; at those times, I need to remind myself that Your mercy is without limit, without measure, deeper than the ocean. Help me always to remember this, O Lord.
Help me, too, to remember that had I been the only person in the world, still You would have undergone the torments of Your Passion and Death; it was for me that You were nailed to the wood of the Cross, and for me that Your Heart was pierced by the lance, opening wide the fountain of mercy.
Merciful Lord, see that in the midst of my misery and my human frailty, I do appreciate Your sacrifice and I thank You.
